Angular 2, React Native Top List of In-Demand Freelance Dev Skills

Freelancing specialist Toptal released a list of the most in-demand development technologies for 2018, with Angular 2 and React Native heading the list.

Those two development technologies experienced by far the most year-over-year growth in 2017, more than double the rate of No. 3 Docker.

Toptal compiled the data based on more than 10,000 requests for talent over the past year. Toptal screens freelance developer candidates to winnow its talent pool down to what it says are the top 3 percent of coders, who it matches up with companies needing temporary help with development projects.

Based on those talent requests, the company issued the following graphic:

"Angular 2, which is a complete rewrite of AngularJS, has grown significantly over the past few years," said Alvaro Oliveira, Toptal's VP of Operations. "As a TypeScript-based front-end Web application platform, its core features allow businesses to improve internal processes and build business logic. For any platform that depends on client integration, this is imperative."

React Native, meanwhile, has taken the mobile dev world by storm since being introduced and subsequently open sourced by Facebook, providing a way to use one development approach to creating both iOS and Android mobile apps with JavaScript.
