RedHat Linux CTO on Eclipse: It's not just for Java
The Eclipse tools plug-in environment may succeed where other attempts failed to create a universal framework because Eclipse can bridge open-source and Java community efforts, Red Hat Inc. CTO Michael Tiemann told attendees at EclipseCon in early February.
What's next for Linux?
Depending on whom you spoke with at the recent LinuxWorld conference in New York City, the next frontier of Linux is either at the data center or on the desktop. And as SCO ramped up litigation with a new copyright suit against Novell last month, it's not surprising that licenses, intellectual property and indemnification were also hot topics at the conference.
At LinuxWorld Expo: Amazon moving to Linux for data warehousing
A keynote presentation at LinuxWorld Expo in New York last week provided a look inside one of the biggest Linux shops going: Amazon.com, king of all things e-commerce. The Amazon operation, as described by speaker Tom Killalea, has moved increasingly to rely on Linux boxes to deliver its online product.
