JobRunr, a software company that develops an eponymous, open-source Java library for background job scheduling and processing, has introduced ClawRunr, a tool designed to simplify background job processing and improve reliability for Java-based applications. As a personal AI assistant, ClawRunr runs on your own hardware and is built on Java 25, Spring Boot 4, Spring AI, and JobRunr.
ClawRunr focuses on making it easier for developers to manage asynchronous tasks, such as scheduled jobs and long-running processes, without requiring complex infrastructure. The platform is designed to integrate with existing Java applications and streamline how background workloads are executed and monitored.
JobRunr, known for its background job processing library, said the new offering extends its capabilities by improving scalability and observability for distributed workloads. The goal is to reduce operational overhead while ensuring tasks are executed reliably. As applications become more distributed, managing background processing has become more complex. ClawRunr is an open-source community project and is available for use with the following prerequisites: Java 25, Gradle, and an LLM API key. Onboarding takes place in 7 steps, outlined here.
