Appdome Updates Mobile Security Offerings

Mobile integration technology company Appdome recently announced two updates to its security-related offerings.

The company, which claims to be the industry's first no-code cloud platform for mobile app integration, this week announced an update to its TOTALCode Obfuscation solution, which aims to protect an app's entire implementation, code, framework and so on.

In addition to native iOS and Android apps written in Java, Kotlin, C, Objective-C and Swift, the product now works with non-native applications built with React Native, Cordova or Xamarin, the company said.

"Going deeper inside non-native apps, obfuscating JavaScript and/or DLL files without touching source code, is absolutely not trivial," the company said in a blog post. "The operating system and the framework loads these files into memory and executes them automatically in order for the app to function. So, developers cannot obfuscate these files manually. But, with the new release of TOTALCode Obfuscation, Appdome users can obfuscate and protect JavaScript and/or DLL files, and even obfuscating dynamically loaded classes and adding arbitrary instructions without impacting the app."

Appdome also announced Trusted Session Inspection, described as a man-in-the-middle protection model for Android and iOS apps that verifies SSL connections on the go.

"The key element of Trusted Session Inspection is the ability to keep track of the SSL session and validated the CA authenticity as it is being sent," the company said in another blog post.

"In general, Trusted Session Inspection goes beyond where other MiTM protections leave off. It is a state-full approach with zero performance effect. It allows for malicious proxy detection regardless if the proxy is internal or external to the mobile device."
