Microsoft ships February CTP of WPF/E
- By Michael Desmond
Microsoft released the February CTP of Windows Presentation Foundation/Everywhere (WPF/E) last week. A cross-platform browser plug-in, WPF/E uses a subset of Windows Presentation Foundation technology, to allow clients to display and play back rich media, 3D and vector graphics, animation, audio and video.
A WPF/E Software Development Kit February CTP recommended for use with Visual Studio 2005 and Expression tools and a WPF/E Sample Pack are also available for download.
WPF/E is due for final release in the first half of 2007 and currently runs on both Mac and Windows, with support for the Internet Explorer, Firefox and Apple Safari Web browsers. Microsoft plans to extend WPF/E support to mobile devices supporting the .NET Compact Framework in the second half of 2007.
The latest CTP for Windows can be downloaded from Microsoft here.
