BEA to rock on in service-oriented environments

BEA said on Tuesday that its JRockit Java Virtual Machine hit a SPECjbb2000 benchmark result of 861,647 operations per second, apparently a new record, according to the company.

The result was achieved using a Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST 480 server with 32 Intel Itanium 2 processors and JRockit JVM 5.0. The result was the best 32-way score on non-SMT/HT hardware. It was also better than any result produced by Sun's HotSpot JVM on a machine of the same configuration.

JRockit helps make it possible to optimize performance for Java apps deployed on Microsoft Windows and Linux 32-bit and 64-bit platforms.

SPECjbb is an independently designed and validated industry-standard benchmark that is specifically designed to measure the scalability and performance of JVMs, which are used by Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) technology-based application servers.
