In Brief: Fiorano bus, Mindreef's SOAP tester, more

Fiorano Software Inc. has announced release 3.0 of the Tifosi 2002 Enterprise Service Bus for event-based distributed computing. New features include Database Adapter Enhancements that include a stored-procedure adapter, as well as enhancements for better performance of database adapters using non-XML ports; an SAP Adapter; WorkList Components that allow users to add manual interventions within a workflow via stored task lists; and Mapper Enhancements for transformations to and from EDI.

Sanctum Inc. has reported the availability of AppScan 4.0 QA Edition, a security testing tool that integrates with QA testing environments, and AppScan 4.0 Audit Edition for automated testing of security vulnerabilities. Using an intelligent validation engine, Sanctum's AppScan 4.0 product suite covers a wide array of attack variants to test both new and existing infrastructures, including emerging Web services technologies containing XML and SOAP vulnerabilities. Version 4.0 of AppScan is said to comply with the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) outlined by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI).

Mindreef Inc. has announced Mindreef SOAPscope 2.0, a Web Services Diagnostics System marked as the second offering in the company's flagship product line. The product's goal is to isolate and solve the problems of applications built with Web services throughout the development, testing and management process. The software highlights errant WSDL results in Web services that are not interoperable or that do not function properly.

The OMG and the UML Technology Institute (UTI) have launched the OMG/UTI Certification Program to create measures of individuals' knowledge of the UML 2.0 Specification. The program offers three levels of knowledge-based examinations for the award of the following certifications: OMG-Certified UML Professional Fundamental, OMG-Certified UML Professional Intermediate, and OMG-Certified UML Professional Advanced. Examinations are computer-based, multiple-choice tests. Beta test candidates should complete the special beta test application at www.omg.org/uml-certification/beta-test.htm.
