Parasoft previews SOAPtest 2.0

[Programmers Report/March 25, 2003] - SOAP is new, as is SOAP testing. Established and start-up test software makers are just beginning to address the needs of XML developers who, in turn, are just beginning to use XML in messaging and other enterprise computing apps that adhere to the new SOAP spec.
Parasoft is among the first in the test world to forge into SOAP, and among the first to give us a peak at what can be expected in their second version of a SOAP test solution. At the recent Web Services Edge Conference in Boston, the company showed SOAPtest 2.0, which has a redesigned GUI and programming wizards designed to guide developers and testers through the steps required to perform SOAP-testing tasks.
Improvements are aimed at easing the task of importing WSDL for automated test-case generation. Moreover, the new SOAPtest will be able to act as a proxy between clients and servers. This proxy can act as a security filter or a monitoring tool in QA environments through to system production. New data source support allows SOAPtest to create functional tests where request and comparison values are taken from a data source.
The new version of the software is pegged for availability on May 15, with prices starting at $3,495. The software runs on Windows 2000/XP, Linux and Solaris.
