Spring Boot 2.2.M6 Released

Pivotal, the company behind the open source Spring Framework, has announced the availability of Milestone 6 of Spring Boot 2.2. It is now available for download from the company’s milestone repository.
Software developer and Spring maven Andy Wilkinson announced the release in a blog post. This release includes 19 new features and 36 bug fixes, as well as dependency upgrades, he wrote. Details and documentation are available on GitHub.
A complete list of changes and upgrade instructions are available on GitHub and on the wiki and the updated reference documentation. The next 2.2 release is scheduled for later this month, Wilkinson said, with a GA version set to follow in mid-October.
“If you haven’t already done so, now is a great time to try a 2.2 milestone and provide us with your feedback,” Wilkinson wrote. “If you want to get started with 2.2 and try out the new features, you can bootstrap a new project on https://start.spring.io.”
Spring Boot is a rapid application development framework designed to simplify the development of stand-alone, production-grade, Spring-framework-based apps that run with little Spring configuration. Spring Boot is “opinionated” out of the box, so it encourages specific practices to increase ease of development. Spring Boot 2.0, the first major revision since Spring 1.0, which was released almost five years ago, was released in March 2018. It was the result of 17 months of work and over 6,800 commits by 215 different individuals, said Spring Framework committer Phil Webb at the time. in a blog post. It was also, the first GA version of Spring Boot to provide support for Spring Framework 5.0.
The Spring Framework continues to be one of the most popular programming and configuration models for building modern Java-based enterprise applications on any type of deployment platform. It’s an open-source, layered Java/J2EE framework based on code published in SpringSource founder Rod Johnson's book "Expert One-on-One Java EE Design and Development" (Wrox Press, October 2002).
