JNBridgePro 9.0 Supports Java 10, Adds Multiple Proxy DLLs

Java/.NET interoperability solutions provider JNBridge this week released a new version of its flagship product, JNBridge Pro 9.0, which supports Java 10 and adds multiple proxy DLLs to enable "a more natural development style."

Multiple proxy DLLs (dynamic-link libraries) allows users to separate proxy generation into multiple projects and use all projects in their development, the company explained, instead of having to combine all the proxy generation into a single project.

The Boulder, CO-based company’s namesake product is a general purpose Java/.NET interoperability tool designed to bridge anything Java to .NET, and vice versa. The tool allows developers to access the entire API from either platform. It connects Java and .NET Framework-based components and applications with simple-to-use Visual Studio and Eclipse plug-ins that remove the complexities of cross-platform interoperability. JNBridgePro is architecture-agnostic: It easily scales from in-process to cross-network, on-premises or in the cloud.

JNBridgePro’s support for the new Java 10, which was announced in March, continues the company’s commitment to users as the underlying platforms evolve, said the company’s CTO, Wayne Citrin.

"JNBridge has always worked hard to stay in lockstep with our customers’ needs and requests," he said in a statement. "As part of that, we also ensure our products reflect updates to the underlying .NET and Java platforms. JNBridgePro 9.0 -- with its multiple proxy DLLs and support for Java 10 -- exemplifies this point and helps make developers’ jobs exponentially easier."

This is the first major release of JNBridge Pro since version 8.0 was released in late 2016, which came with a new interface and new capabilities that allow developers to take a framework written in Java (or .NET), and extend it in .NET (or Java). It was the first version to support a cross-platform override. This is almost a holy grail for me," Citrin told ADTmag at the time. "From the beginning of the company, it has been our goal to make Java/.NET interoperability a non-issue. And it has always bothered me that this basic aspect of object oriented languages -- this override behavior -- didn't work cross platform. It works now, and I expect it to reduce frustration for a lot of developers."
