HeadSpin Inc. has emerged from stealth with a new mobile platform emphasizing testing of mobile apps and monitoring their experiences in real-world conditions.
The 2015 startup, based in Mountain View, Calif., said it was founded by Manish Lachwani, CEO, and Brien Colwell, CTO, with the goal to "Give developers the ability to experience their mobile app or website the way their users around the world do."
According to Bloomberg:
HeadSpin Inc. develops a mobile testing platform for developers around the world. The company enables users to test, monitor, and integrate global cell networks without writing any code into exiting workflows. It allows users to find and fix issues in their network traffic; prioritize the issues; automate application testing; and remotely SMS, message, voice call, or test application performance from their keyboards and mouses.
The company's "testing and mobile experience platform" promises to help developers automate app testing in real-world conditions by remotely controlling devices around the world through a Web browser. HeadSpin said 22,000 networked devices -- connected to local wireless carriers -- are provided in 140 locations around the world.
With that approach, no SDK is required, said HeadSpin, which leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to analyze UX data points, predict critical performance issues and so on.
To that end, the company is looking to hire for several engineering positions, with more than one listing requiring machine learning skills.
In addition to remote testing, the company offers performance management, continuous monitoring and an API for frequently running functional and performance tests to, for example, ensure an upcoming app version functions as expected in key markets.
The company is offering a free trial of its product, but no pricing information is provided on its site.
