CA Technologies Enhances API Management for Mobile Development

Improvements to CA Technologies' API management offerings help mobile developers create app back-ends and use open source components, among other new functionality.

Among several announcements was the release of CA Live API Creator, which provides point-and-click functionality to create APIs from existing enterprise data in order to more easily create and deploy back-ends for mobile development projects and other initiatives.

CA Technologies said the interactive, graphical tool can help developers create APIs up to 10 times faster than hand coding, generating code that is up to 40 times more concise, with no professional database skills needed.

"CA is dramatically changing the application development dynamic for how APIs and entire application back-ends are created," the company quoted KuppingerCole analyst Alexei Balaganski as saying. "CA Live API Creator is a valuable addition to the company's already first-class API management portfolio."

The company also announced convenient access to open source CA Mobile App Services components, including software development kits, on the GitHub open source code repository.

In addition, CA Technologies announced its CA Mobile API Gateway now supports the Android mobile platform. Related functionality includes multi-factor authentication for API access. Finally, the company announced its CA API Gateway now supports Docker container technology.
