Compuware announces new Java management tools

Compuware is releasing updated Java tools for managing the performance of applications running on IBM WebSphere and legacy systems.
'Increasing deployment of applications in J2EE environments brings many new challenges to IT organizations,' writes Tim Grieser, vice president for system management software research at IDC. 'Identifying and fixing performance problems requires specialized tools such as Compuware Strobe and Compuware iStrobe that can be used to monitor and diagnose bottlenecks in J2EE-based applications.'
Compuware Strobe 3.1 focuses on finding database application problems that IT departments may encounter migrating from DB2 V7 to DB2 V8, says Bruce Klenk, product manager for Strobe.
Beyond support for IBM's latest release of DB2, Compuware says its tool provides IT staff with information on how Java and WebSphere applications interact with legacy CICS software and mainframe operating systems.
iStrobe is a Web browser-based interface IT professionals use to analyze and sort application performance data gathered by the Strobe tool. It gives users the option to share performance tips with others working with the system.
