Telelogic req management gets iterative

Evolving styles of development have left requirements management tools somewhat out in the cold, noted Paul Raymond, vice president, requirements management tools at Telelogic. Telelogic has moved to address this issue with its latest release of the Doors requirements tool set, he said.

The Doors package adds Dynamic Requirements Management capabilities to better address the needs of teams today, Raymond said.

"There used to be a 'big bang' approach to development, where you gathered all requirements up front and had adequate resources. Now, with aggressive development schedules and constantly changing requirements," continued Raymond, "customers have moved to incremental or iterative approaches." That means smaller chunks of functionality are handled at any given time.

Configuration management tools, design tools and project management tools have more quickly adopted to this essential change in style, he said. New aspects of Telelogic's Doors offering reduce the manual effort of managing evolving requirements in incremental settings, Raymond said. The improved capabilities that mark the new product, according to Raymond, include Intelligent Traceability, Proactive Suspect Link handling and an Enterprise Change Proposal System.
