Segue targets Mercury with performance monitor

Segue Software, Inc., targeting longtime rival Mercury Interactive, staked its claim to the burgeoning application performance monitoring market by rolling out a Web-based enterprise monitoring product said to allow users to manage the performance of online applications.

The new SilkVision offering based on Segue's SilkPerformer technology, is said to help users maintain the health of e-business systems and improve problem identification by integrating the most accurate systems available for high-volume Web site application reliability.

Segue officials said early beta version testers of SilkVision included international enterprises and resellers in a variety of industries.

"We've had a successful SilkVision beta program for the last 30 days, running various standard and business transaction monitors," said Dan Foley, senior project leader at Vanteon, an e-business consulting company and one of Segue's beta sites. "For our clients, monitoring the performance of their websites is critical."
