Oracle Java Set to Power Samsung Semiconductor Development Operations

 Oracle has announced that Samsung Electronics will use Oracle Java technologies to support software development across its semiconductor operations. Samsung plans to use Oracle Java to help power development environments tied to semiconductor research, engineering, and production systems. The agreement focuses on supporting large-scale application development and maintaining performance and reliability across global operations.

With the Java SE Universal Subscription, Samsung can streamline licensing and address compliance risk, simplify IT operations, and enhance security across its mission-critical operations. The move ensures that Samsung's sensitive, mission-critical semiconductor development is uninterrupted, as the Java SE Universal Subscription will enable its engineers to access the latest security patches, including proactive updates that are part of a more structured security patching system compared to open source alternatives.

Oracle said Java remains widely used for enterprise and industrial software because of its portability, scalability, and long-term support capabilities. Samsung’s semiconductor division operates complex infrastructure and software environments that require consistent development tools across distributed teams and systems.
