R Systems to Standardize AI Integration Across Software Lifecycle Using Cursor

R Systems, a global provider of digital product engineering services, has announced a strategic partnership with Anysphere to deploy its AI-powered code editor, Cursor, across the company's software development operations. The move aims to embed artificial intelligence into every stage of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and scale up delivery capabilities.

R Systems is a global digital engineering firm serving technology and enterprise clients with a focus on automation, AI, and cloud-native development. The rollout will impact more than 1,000 engineers at R Systems, who are being equipped with Cursor to streamline coding, testing, documentation, DevOps, and project management. The company plans to establish a Co-Innovation Lab focused on producing an AI-SDLC framework—standardized practices and reusable playbooks designed to infuse AI across delivery workflows.

The partnership is expected to boost delivery speed by approximately 30%, cut software defect rates by 25%, and reduce engineer onboarding times by half, according to R Systems.

"AI has become the engine of modern software development," said Chirag Jog, Head of Product & Platform Engineering Accelerators at R Systems, in a statement. "This partnership enables our teams to build faster and with higher quality by embedding reusable prompts and best practices governed by Responsible AI principles."

Cursor, developed by San Francisco-based Anysphere, combines generative code suggestions with enterprise-grade security and customization. The tool is already in use at companies including Adobe and Nvidia.

"By equipping each delivery pod with AI workflows, R Systems is not only accelerating development, but also standardizing how AI can be deployed at scale," said Ricky Doar, Head of Field Engineering at Cursor, in a statement.

R Systems' client Spreedly, a U.S.-based payments platform, cited the implementation as instrumental to exceeding software delivery benchmarks. "R Systems' AI-first approach significantly outperformed expectations while maintaining our coding standards," said Spreedly CTO Mike Rivers. Spreedly, a long-standing R Systems client, processes more than $50 billion annually across 100 countries through its open payments platform.

As part of the initiative, R Systems is also building a centralized prompt repository and expanding its OptimaAI platform, which includes accelerators and IP aligned with responsible AI use. The company positions the move as foundational to evolving engineering roles and sustaining productivity in large-scale development environments.

This collaboration reflects an ongoing industry trend toward integrating AI as a standard component of software engineering workflows, amid broader shifts in development practices and talent models.
