Pluralsight Live Announcements: A Partnership, an Acquisition, and Lots of Platform Enhancements

Online course provider Pluralsight made numerous announcements at its Pluralsight LIVE virtual event last week around its technology skills and engineering management platform, unveiled a new strategic partnership with Verizon to support the Verizon 2.0 transformation strategy, and announced the acquisition of DevelopIntelligence, a Colorado-based skills consulting and virtual IT training provider.

Among the Utah-based company's list of platform enhancements was the Delivery Module for Pluralsight Flow, a new tool designed to help engineering teams proactively overcome roadblocks in the software development process and identify improvements to deliver greater value and improve time-to-market. The module is the first tool of its kind to use data from Jira to measure the human interactions that occur during the software development process, said Kathryn Murphy, EVP of the Pluralsight Flow group, so teams can understand how they're progressing against their goals and identify opportunities to optimize collaboration and their workflow.

"Engineering teams need increased data and visibility into their workflows. Pluralsight Flow delivers these necessary insights, allowing engineers and leaders to see data on the constraints facing their teams and identify how they can best address them," Murphy said in a statement. "Conversations and efforts can focus on where it matters most, helping teams make changes with real impact."

The company also introduced of Priorities, which Brandon Peay, EVP of the Pluralsight Skills group described as a "first-of-its-kind tool designed to completely align skills development strategy with business objectives," and cloud labs, a hands-on learning experience for accelerating cloud skills development.

"As enterprises accelerate digital transformation initiatives to meet the demands of an increasingly distributed workforce, the need for skills development has never been more important," Peay said in a statement. "With Pluralsight's new enhancements… our enterprise customers will be better equipped to give their technologists the fastest possible path to skills development and deliver outcomes that enable enterprises to build better teams and products.

Pluralsight's new strategic partnership with Verizon will see Pluralsight providing Verizon's ongoing employee education and upskilling program. Pluralsight will provided "a key component" of Verizon's Learning 2.0 strategy, which is centered on aligning skill development and upskilling the communications company's workforce using Pluralsight "to deliver on the promise of 5G and the future of work."

DevelopIntelligence is a Louisville, CO-based provider of strategic skills consulting and virtual instructor-led training for IT, software development, and engineering teams at many of the world's most influential enterprise companies. Pluralsight's acquisition combines DevelopIntelligence's customizable virtual learning programs and strategic consulting services with Pluralsight's on-demand skill development. Pluralsight's CEO Aaron Skonnard calls the acquisition "a natural fit for our long-term strategic growth" that "further differentiates us from other offerings that lack scale, customizability, or hands-on learning experiences."
