Low-Code Leader Expands Cloud-Native Deployment Options

Low-code platform provider Mendix this week announced the availability of Mendix for Private Cloud and the Mendix Dedicated Cloud, two new cloud offerings that expand the Boston-based company's portfolio of cloud-native deployment options across public, private and hybrid cloud environments.

These new products are designed to enable organizations to use low-code application lifecycle management with multicloud deployment strategies.

With this announcement, Mendix, which is a Siemens company, is targeting cutting-edge enterprise cloud operations, the company said. Mendix CTO Johan den Haan pointed to a recent Forrester survey in which 86 percent of respondents reported making multicloud or hybrid cloud investments for operational efficiency. One-third of those businesses will use the private cloud as part of their deployment strategy, the survey found. Nearly a quarter (23 percent) will use on-premises in combination with public cloud deployment.

"Enterprises need to have the entire landscape of deployment options at their disposal," den Haan said in a statement, "including public, private, and hybrid clouds, and on-premises options. We pioneered cloud-native software deployment for low-code with Mendix Public Cloud, and we are committed to increasing the velocity and ease of cloud enablement and ROI with two new multi-cloud deployment options."

Mendix's expanded multicloud options are organized into three product offerings:

Mendix for Private Cloud extends the company's cloud-native architecture to any privately configured location or datacenter. Running on Kubernetes, Mendix for Private Cloud can meet an enterprise's specialized security, compliance or data integration needs on its cloud or clouds of choice. Developers can collaborate, test, monitor and deploy applications to Mendix for Private Cloud or any additional cloud targets.

Mendix Dedicated Cloud is the low-code provider's premier cloud offering. The company says it's ideally suited for enterprises with highly specialized security and operational needs at a massive scale. It combines the portability of the company's cloud offerings in an environment with full engineering support from Mendix for any management or specialized integration needs.

Mendix Public Cloud is the company's existing cloud-native offering. It's designed to provide enterprises with "one-click" cloud deployment on infrastructure managed and hosted by Mendix, or on SAP or IBM public clouds.

The Mendix strategy of merging low-code application development with a broad number of cloud deployment options will free up significant time and bandwidth for developers to work on innovations and business-critical needs, den Haan said. Apps built by "citizen developers" will be cloud-native by default, he added, and ready to operate on Kubernetes software stacks out of the box.
