.NET-Centric Dev Tooling Vendor Boosts Blazor Components, Supports .NET Core 3.0

In the .NET development world, .NET Core 3.0 and Blazor are two of the most popular focus points right now, so third-party development tooling vendors are scrambling to support their latest editions.

Leading that charge is Progress, just yesterday announcing the new R3 2019 release of Progress Telerik tooling for .NET developers.

It supports .NET Core 3.0 Release Candidate, which shipped last month just a week before .NET Core 3.0 went to official general availability. That reflects the inevitable lag vendors face after Microsoft ships its offerings, but Microsoft said the RC release was production-ready and essentially the same as the official GA release. [Note: After this article was published Progress said its release was updated to support .NET Core 3.0 GA on the day it shipped.]

Along with supporting .NET Core 3.0 RC, Progress yesterday said its new release beefs up the Progress Telerik UI for Blazor tool with new native UI components that now number more than 25, ranging from Grid to Styling. Blazor is the red-hot project recently graduated from experimental stage with its scheme of leveraging WebAssembly to compile C# code for Web development, long the almost-exclusive province of JavaScript.

Other new components and accessibility improvements are provided for ASP.NET Core and ASP.NET MVC, ranging from TimeLine to a PDF Viewer, while ASP.NET AJAX improvements boost accessibility and include a Drawer component and enhanced Spreadsheet.

Other .NET tooling targets also received new features and functionality, including mobile (Xamarin), desktop (WPF and WinForms) and reporting, testing and productivity.
