Wipro Teams with Software AG for IoT Analytics Platform

The red-hot Internet of Things (IoT) development movement associated with Big Data analytics is churning ahead, with Wipro Ltd. and Software AG on Friday announcing a platform for real-time processing of streaming data.

Wipro, a consulting and business process services company, is providing the Looking Glass architectural framework that will initially utilize Software AG's Big Data streaming analytics product suite that's designed for IoT data capture, integration and analysis, facilitating quick business response to gleaned insights and information. Based in Germany, Software AG specializes in Big Data, integration and business process technologies.

"Combining event processing, messaging, in-memory data management and visualization, this platform is the most complete solution to turn relentless data streams -- like those produced by the IoT -- into meaningful real-time metrics," Software AG's site says about its Apama Streaming Analytics product.

The companies said their joint venture features a real-time analytics engine, in-memory database technology and "a real-time UI" combined with mashup technologies. It targets the financial services, manufacturing, supply chain and telecommunications industries among others, the companies said.

"Wipro Looking Glass can be run both on-premise as well as hosted in a single cloud or multiple clouds simultaneously," the companies said in a statement. "Through leading-edge data-management technologies, this platform offers unlimited scalability to the enterprise. The foundation framework allows for the flexible and rapid development of customer specific solutions at a lower cost and reduced risk. With cloud-hosted analytics and algorithms that are accessible by digital sensors and devices, actions like process updates, event responses and machine behavior can be effortlessly implemented."

At press time no information about Looking Glass could be found on the Wipro Web site, which does feature a page about its IoT capabilities.
