Informatica Offers 'Codeless' Big Data Development

Informatica Corp. recently announced its new PowerCenter Big Data Edition software, offering a "no-coding environment" to increase big data development productivity when using technologies such as Hadoop.

The company said its product, available next month, lets organizations lower big data development costs through a visual "no-code development environment" that "removes hand-coding within Hadoop."

Informatica CTO James Markarian said, "Early Hadoop adopters are beginning to recognize the challenges due to a lack of interoperability with traditional computing and data management infrastructure and the lower productivity and lack of available skills of yet another programming language. PowerCenter Big Data Edition addresses both these challenges: near-universal connectivity and no-coding development."

Other claimed benefits include fast data ingestion and extraction, virtual data machines and "near-universal data access and comprehensive Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) on Hadoop."

The company said the codeless development environment can increase data integration development productivity by up to three times and lets companies use prebuilt data transformation capabilities to reduce development efforts on Hadoop and increase development quality.
