Tasktop Integration Tool Aids Eclipse-Based Agile Development

Tasktop Technologies recently announced an update to Tasktop Enterprise, which synchronizes tasks between Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) elements and cross-repository Agile planning.

The version 2 of the tool includes the new Tasktop Agile Planner for the Eclipse IDE, which "provides an offline-capable Scrum task board and release planner that can span repositories," the company said in a news release.

Tasktop, which is known for its Eclipse Mylyn integration framework and Agile ALM products, said Agile developers can show, track and share information such as user stories in HP Quality Center or an open source issue tracker. Currently, the company said, Agile plans can be displayed from HP's Agile Accelerator and Rally Software's tools, with support for more tools planned in later releases.

"Cross repository dependencies are displayed in release plans, and Tasktop Enterprise can display and reconcile task status across repositories," the company said. "All relevant content from a Web-based planning tool, such as burn down charts, are available when connected via Tasktop's embedded Web UI gadgets."

In addition to the HP Agile Accelerator integration, the new Tasktop Enterprise tool integrates with Accept 360, a Mylyn connector; the SmartBear CodeCollaborator peer code review tool; Polarion's Track & Wiki ALM product; and more.

The new release also includes Tasktop for Visual Studio, which provides Tasktop connectors via the Microsoft IDE, letting .NET developers take advantage of Mylyn functionality such as instant task opening, access to the Task List while offline and a complete task editor.

Base pricing for the Enteprise version is $199 per-user, per-year.
