Microsoft Office 2007 users have a new way to track regulatory compliance -- from directly within the comfortable confines of Office.
Approva announced that its BizRights application now has Office Business Application (OBA) capabilities, meaning that users can perform compliance activities such as monitoring, analysis and auditing from within familiar applications like SharePoint Server, Outlook, Excel and InfoPath.
"Regulatory obligations, such as Sarbanes-Oxley, are increasing demand for automated controls monitoring solutions, which can help reduce the cost and disruption that compliance often brings to large organizations," stated Robert Bernard, general manager of the Worldwide ISV Group at Microsoft Corp, in a press release. "Extending Approva BizRights as an OBA enables information workers to build compliance-related tasks into their day-to-day business processes by utilizing the applications they already use on a daily basis."
Pricing and availability information for the OBA-extended version of BizRights was not available at press time.
