Java SDK for Team Foundation Server in the Works

Teamprise is extending the usefulness of the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server by developing a Java software development kit (SDK). The SDK will allow developers access to Team Foundation Server via an application programming interface (API).
In a press release, Teamprise stated that the SKD "will enable software developers to create custom applications in the Java programming language that have access to the full set of features in Team Foundation Server, including source code control and work item tracking."
The Teamprise Client Suite is the engine that will drive the SDK. The plan is to make much of the functionality of its core libraries accessible to Java developers via an API, according to Shaw Terwilliger, software developer and project lead for the Teamprise Java SDK product.
Cost and licensing terms for the SDK, which is expected to be available by the end of 2007, weren't released.
Team Foundation Server is part of the Visual Studio 2005 Team System platform. Its primary purpose is to provide a collaboration environment for development, including project managers, developers and architects. Team Foundation Server also has reporting and auditing features to help keep products in regulatory compliance.
Teamprise is a division of SourceGear, which makes products specifically for Team Foundation Server.
