Oracle unveils hot-pluggable SOA suite

Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) today announced availability of the Oracle SOA Suite, a standards-based set of middleware products used to build, deploy and manage service-oriented architectures.

Using the suite, organizations can seamlessly connect, extend and evolve their IT systems to rapidly deliver new business services, the company says. Built on a hot-pluggable architecture, the suite allows customers to SOA-enable their existing IT environment, avoiding a costly rip-and-replace project.

Composed of the SOA components of Oracle Fusion Middleware, the suite is interoperable and supports Oracle and non-Oracle application servers and messaging buses, including IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic and JBoss Application Servers. The Oracle SOA Suite enables services to be created, managed and orchestrated into composite applications and business processes.

The Oracle SOA Suite consists of the following:

* Oracle BPEL Process Manager, a Business Process Execution Language engine for Web services orchestration that allows organizations to design, define and execute business processes;
* Oracle Enterprise Service Bus, a standards-based product that connects existing IT systems and business partners as a set of services;
* Oracle Web Services Manager, which provides a single console for defining and enforcing Web services policies;
* Oracle Business Rules Engine, which provides facilities to define and manage business rules;
* Oracle Business Activity Monitoring, which delivers real-time insight into business operations;
* Oracle Enterprise Manager, to deploy and manage service-oriented applications in an operational environment; and
* Oracle JDeveloper 10g, an integrated development environment for creating and composing applications that also acts as a unified toolset for all components in the Oracle SOA Suite.

Oracle also provides connectors to access legacy systems such as CICS, VSAM and IMS and packaged applications including SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle e-Business Suite and Siebel via Web services. For more information, click here.
