Flashline Rolls Out Governance Platform for SOA

Flashline recently introduced a new platform that it says manages and governs the entire chain of relationships—from corporate objectives to business services, applications, Web services and components.

Flashline for SOA focuses on policy enforcement and architectural compliance during the early planning and design phases of the service development lifecycle, including development, publishing, production, versioning and retirement. By enforcing these policies, companies ensure that these services are in compliance with architecture standards, quality levels and regulatory requirements, according to the company.

The platform manages the lifecycle from fine-grained artifacts such as WSDL, XML schemas and components, to large-grained assets, such as business processes and applications. It introduces automated, one-step publishing for Web services, and offers access to Web services that are still under development. Flashline for SOA also features automatic notifications on changes to services, new versions and retirement, as well as integration with UDDI and source code management systems.

The platform features Flashline Registry, which manages and aligns a company’s portfolio of software assets with its business goals, strategy and architecture. FlashTrax, its automated usage tracking, helps executives monitor services’ location and usage, as well as ensure services comply with policies and architecture standards. Executives can also monitor the progress on the company’s overall migration to SOA based on the services that are proposed, funded and completed. Flashline for SOA was designed to help managers analyze and enforce service quality, and assess and track SOA’s benefit to the company.

Flashline for SOA can be extended with the options and tool adapters of the Flashline 5 product line, including integrations with project portfolio management systems, executive dashboards, leading development environments, architecture modeling tools, and other systems of record for IT and business.
