Interwoven Weaves New ECM Deal with Sun

Interwoven, an electronic content management solutions provider, says it has expanded its relationship with Sun Microsystems under which Sun will resell the Interwoven ECM platform.

The expanded agreement enables Sun to resell Interwoven’s Java-based product portfolio, along with Sun's Java Enterprise System software, Sun Fire enterprise servers and StorEdge products.

Interwoven’s content management product suite includes LiveSite Content Publisher Server, which is used to publish Web sites; TeamSite Content Management Server, which enables enterprises to manage content across portals, intranets and other Web-based business apps; and TeamXML XML Server, which supports XML component management for content reuse.

Together, the two companies can provide enterprises with end-to-end content and records management, secure storage and archiving; identity management; and business process compliance. The added benefit for enterprises, according to Interwoven, is the ability to deploy content-based apps using an integrated, standards and services-based infrastructure, resulting in more rapid ROI and lower TCO.

Chris Wood, CTO data management practice at Sun says: “Working with Interwoven enables Sun to offer an end-to-end solution [that] includes the data management aspects as well as the provisioning and delivery of content services through integration with identity management storage solutions optimized for cost-effective long-term records retention and portal services."

The two companies will jointly market and sell the ECM product portfolio.
