Shipments of worldwide PDAs hit 3.4 million units in the first quarter of 2005, a 25 percent increase from the same period last year, according to Gartner. PDAs sold for an average of $406, the highest since Gartner tracked average selling estimates in 2000.
Research in Motion's BlackBerry continued to be tops in the worldwide PDA market; shipments grew 75.6 percent in the first quarter. palmOne followed, but saw shipments decrease 26.3 percent. Hewlett-Packard, Nokia and Dell rounded out the top vendors. |
