Aonix has added AWT graphics support for the PERC VM, its
real-time virtual machine, which extends configurability to applications that
require GUIs, including set-top boxes, in-vehicle infotainment devices and
time-critical human-machine interfaces.
The Abstract Window Toolkit (AWT) provides portable programming abstractions
that output graphical elements and capture graphic-oriented input such as
pointer position and mouse clicks. By writing to the AWT standard, Java graphics
programmers are able to develop and test the same code on a variety of
development platforms, including Windows CE and XP, Linux, Macintosh and
Solaris.

Macromedia Captivate enables users to record onscreen
activity and create software demonstrations and interactive simulations.
Demonstrations visually show the steps required to complete a task instead of
forcing users to learn by reading step-by-step, text-based instructions.
Captivate is said to go beyond basic screen recording by allowing users to
create customizable software simulations with scored interactivity and
instructional feedback. The simulations and demonstrations can be edited, which
increases the productivity of content creators and training organizations.
Pricing is $299 for upgrades from RoboDemo versions 4.x and 5.x, and $499 for
new users.

Electric Cloud 2.1 is a software build accelerator that
improves network efficiency through support for multi-CPU machines in the build
cluster, peer-to-peer network communication and file compression.
At the core of the accelerator is Electric Make, which is plug-compatible
with existing Make-based build infrastructures so it can be deployed with little
or no change to existing tools or environments. A patent-pending dependency
management system captures dependency information by monitoring all files
accessed during a build. Version 2.1 records and reuses build dependency
information, which is said to minimize the Makefile maintenance required to
achieve and maintain build performance. In addition, Electric Cloud compresses
files being transferred over the network, reducing network traffic by two to
three times.
