Text Monkey PRO works as a sort of clipboard assistant. Whenever you
invoke it (from a tray icon) it comes up showing you whatever is on the
clipboard. From there, a tabs-and-buttons interface lets you perform a
variety of transformations:
- Remove > quoting characters from annoying overly-forwarded e-mail
- Search and replace text
- Strip out graphics or high ASCII characters
- Wrap the text in enough HTML to be a valid document
- Remove HTML tags
- Convert text to a hex dump
- Convert tabs to spaces or vice versa
- Sort or number lines
On the silly end of things, it can even convert the text to "teen text"
(on the silly end of thingz it can even convert the text 2 teen text)
for use in IM conversations with your kids.
Right now Text Monkey PRO is lurking on my own system, ready for me to
need it. The memory impact is minimal, and the application works as
advertised. Can't ask much more than that. If you work with text a lot,
it's worth a look. You can download a shareware evaluation copy, or a
freeware less-functional version, from the Boxer Web site.
