Tool captures user info, not simulation

TeaLeaf Technology (http://www.tealeaf.com), San Francisco, has enhanced its TeaLeaf IntegriTea Web application management product with Session to Script, an add-on that allows for the automatic creation of scripts from the Web sessions of real end users.

Geoff Galat, VP of marketing and product management, said that because users have all sorts of testing tools, they lack the resources necessary to go back and record a script when a problem arises. IntegriTea with Session to Script "gives the ability to access real user sessions and automatically generate a script," he noted.

The significance of the new version, according to Meta Group Vice President Corey Ferengul, is that IntegriTea with Session to Script captures actual user information, not that of a simulation. "It gives a much clearer view of the true impact on an environment, not just an individual metric," he noted. That view provides users with a better understanding of the context of the metrics generated.

TeaLeaf officials said Session to Script adds the ability to automatically generate validation test scripts from real end-user sessions, parameterize select input fields, leverage aggregate real-user session data and capture the load testing script activity during validation.

The tool currently works with the Web Application Stress Tool from Microsoft, but TeaLeaf plans to add support for tools from Mercury Interactive and Empirix in the near future. Pricing for IntegriTea is $10,000 per CPU and $5,000 for each user seat.
