In brief: Wadhwani resigns from i2 board; IBM and Red Hat in alliance, and more

Romesh Wadhwani has resigned from the Board of Directors of i2 to pursue
outside business interests. Wadhwani joined the Board in June 2000 after i2
acquired Aspect Development, where he was the founder and CEO .... The
Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) announced the formation of
a Blue Ribbon Diversity Panel to establish best practices to advance
under-represented groups in the IT industry. The panel will also identify key
barriers and challenges to IT workplace diversity, make industry recommendations
and consolidate existing research on racial and ethnic minorities, women,
individuals with disabilities and older workers in the IT workforce.
IBM and Red Hat have announced a multiyear alliance, including services and
expanded support for Linux software and servers. As part of the agreement, Red
Hat will deliver Red Hat Linux Advanced Server for IBM's eServer zSeries,
iSeries and pSeries. Meanwhile, IBM Global Services will provide support for Red
Hat Linux Advanced Server on IBM's entire eServer product line. Red Hat and IBM
Global Services will collaborate and package each other's consulting and service
offerings. As well, Red Hat will support Red Hat Linux Advanced Server on IBM's
eServer zSeries, iSeries and pSeries servers. IBM will make WebSphere, DB2,
Tivoli and Lotus software available for Red Hat Linux ... Outsourced application
solution provider Surebridge Inc. has appointed Peter J. Boni to the position of
chairman and CEO. Boni has been serving as vice chairman and interim CEO of
Surebridge since mid-March ... IBM has acquired Holosofx Inc., a privately held
provider of business process modeling and monitoring tools. This is the third
integration-related acquisition by the IBM Software Group this year, following
the acquisition of CrossWorlds Software for business process integration in
January and iMetamerge for directory integration in June.
