Cloudflare Offers No-Cost Mobile SDK for Data-Driven Development

Cloudflare today said it's offering a free Mobile SDK to help Android and iOS developers visualize and understand their mobile app's network utilization.

The Cloudflare Mobile SDK is being offered to everyone -- even if they don't use other company offerings in their technology stack -- to help identify slowdowns resulting from balky or too-frequent network calls so developers can focus on optimization.

"You can identify top N requests, slow requests, and requests most likely to fail," the company said in a March 22 post. "You can also inspect all the third-party calls your app is making through included libraries."

Cloudflare said there would be no cap on active users or metrics tracked.

"Our aim is to make this data as useful as possible. We know you're already looking at engagement data in tools like Mixpanel, Amplitude, and Heap. To this end, we're making it as easy as possible to correlate network experience data with the event and engagement data you're already tracking."

The company said developers can integrate the SDK into their mobile projects by including the library, adding one line to an AppDelegate or Gradle config file and then building the project, resulting in "minimal weight" being added to an APK or IPA.

Interested developers can register for an SDK key and access online documentation.
