Visual Analytics Specialist SlamData Offers 'No-Code BI for NoSQL'

With low-code/no-code tools revamping enterprise app development, analytics firm SlamData Inc. has come out with a release of its namesake platform claiming to provide "no-code BI for NoSQL."

The Boulder, Colo., firm sells a number of analytics solutions for NoSQL data stores, targeting the Internet of Things (IoT), Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), security and more, with various products for different platforms such as MongoDB, Couchbase, MarkLogic, and Spark/Hadoop.

It specializes in embedding charts or reports into applications simply by copying embed code.

For the business intelligence (BI) space, it provides connectors for Tableau, Qlik and Power BI. And with its new SlamData 4.2 release, the platform promises BI functionality without the need for professional data programming or database querying expertise.

"The new platform allows users without query-language knowledge or developer skills to explore, visualize, build -- and embed -- interactive reports simply through SlamData's user interface," the company said in a recent announcement.

New features help users visually understand data and how it's structured. "It delivers immediate 'meta awareness of a database's contents -- something that has prevented product managers and business intelligence analysts from getting immediate insight from their NoSQL data sources," the company said.

SlamData also highlighted more charting options via geo-based data visualization, along with heat maps and dynamic markers. Another new feature is support for the ElasticSearch NoSQL database.

"With our more powerful UI and new visual querying features, everyone -- regardless of technical skills -- can create and share insights from live data in MongoDB, Couchbase, MarkLogic and Spark," said Jeff Carr, SlamData's co-founder and CEO.
