Gupta Technologies today announced its TD Mobile tool for simplified enterprise app development has added capabilities to create hybrid cross-platform mobile apps.
In addition to Web-based cross-platform apps, TD Mobile 2.0 now helps developers build hybrid iOS, Android and Windows Phone apps that can be downloaded from app stores, unlike browser-based apps built with HTML5, JavaScript and CSS.
The new hybrid capabilities are provided through open source Apache Cordova technology that wraps Web-based code in a native wrapper. "Hybrid apps leverage native capabilities by supporting deeper device integration options for certain features such as device camera to decode barcodes, push notifications, contacts access and more," the company said.
Gupta, a subsidiary of Daegis Inc., espouses a simplified approach to enterprise apps development that doesn't require developers to have specialized expertise. "From client server, Web, .NET and mobile business application development, Gupta removes the complexity from the development process by eliminating low-level coding, delivering highly productive software for developers of all skill levels," the company said.
Along those lines, TD Mobile 2.0 features automatic database access that doesn't require that low-level connection coding. "Building mobile database-enabled apps can be completed entirely without any coding," the company said. "The automatic database access is enhanced with both calculated fields and multiple identity fields. Additional layout formatting options are available with controls that allow for more options when customizing the app design."
TD Mobile 2.0 also includes new features such as sortable tables, popup dialogs and data-driven menu lists, along with other GUI controls.
A 30-day trial of the tool is available, said, Gupta, which provides specific pricing details upon request.
