WSO2 has released two new open source products for developers of Web services applications. The company is currently offering its Web Services Framework for C (WSF/C) 1.0 product, as well as its Web Services Framework for PHP (WSF/PHP) 1.0 product.
Both products are designed to help software developers generate enterprise-grade applications via solutions that support "the widest range of Web services" specifications. For instance, both products support SOAP 1.1, SOAP 1.2, WSDL 1.1 and WSDL 2.0 Web services standards, as well as the entire WS*- stack.
WSF/C can be deployed within a Web server, such as Apache Web Server or Microsoft IIS, or it can be deployed as a standalone server. The company has tested its WSF/C Framework with Windows XP, Linux GCC (GNU Compiler Collection), Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES, Sun's Solaris and Mac OS 10.
The WSF/PHP product is backward compatible with PHP5, allowing developers to use their existing PHP code. It enables WSDL to be generated for PHP service scripts, and a "contract-first" WSDL style is used. Moreover, the product enables SOAP-based messaging to be encrypted and signed. SOAP and REST can be used to expose a single service. The company has tested its WSF/PHP Framework with Windows XP and Linux GCC.
WSO2 provides support and training for its open source products, which are optimized for Web services and service-oriented architecture implementations. The company's products are based on Apache Axis2, as well as other Apache Software Foundation open source projects.
Additional WSO2 products include a Web Services Application Server (WSAS) and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB).
