Telligent Releases Community Server 2007

Looking to broaden the use of its software for developing online communities, Web consultancy Telligent Systems has released a new version of its Community Server platform.

Community Server 2007 is based on the latest version of the company's popular .NET community-building engine. In a blog post on April 16, Telligent CEO Rob Howard noted that the release's most significant changes revolve around "Chameleon," the product's new theme system.

"Chameleon allows people to change the look and feel of Community Server without requiring a degree in computer science," Howard wrote. "There are simple-to-use what-you-see-is-what-you-get tools to assist you in changing colors, graphics, fonts and more."

The new release also lets users easily share themes with others, according to Telligent.

Community Server is built on the .NET 2.0 platform and has three layers: a Web tier with C# controls for creating UI components; a core services tier for handling data access, business logic and other tasks; and a repository.

Community Server is available for purchase and download at here.
