BEA Upgrades Enterprise Integration Tools

BEA Systems, Inc. unveiled a collection of integration tools this week aimed at easing adoption of service-oriented architectures. The integration portfolio strategy is on the heels of the company's ambitious SOA 360 platform announcement in September, which outlined the BEA microService architecture and its supporting WorkSpace 360 collaborative tooling environment, slated for release in 2007.
The Integration Portfolio features the latest versions of the company's WebLogic Integration tool (v9.2), which helps enterprises service-enable business processes; and the AquaLogic Service Bus (v2.6) designed to support service mediation. For the first time, these tools are being offered as a bundled toolset called the BEA AquaLogic Integrator.
WebLogic Integration v9.2 offers an Eclipse development environment which supports Apache Beehive-complaint controls, JSR-175 Java annotations, and a new Worklist module. It is expected to be available for download later this year.
AquaLogic Service Bus v2.6 adds several features to aid developers in customizing configurations (design-time APIs) and automating deployment (rules support). It also includes support for SOAP 1.2 and UDDI v3 import of business services, so that any registry changes are automatically updated in the ESB. It is expected to be available for download early next year.
"BEA is firmly committed to helping businesses make the transition to SOA regardless of what underlying application infrastructure they have in place or where they are in the adoption lifecycle," said Executive Vice President of Products Wai Wong, in a statement.
BEA Systems is a member of Open SOA, the vendor alliance that is promoting work on industry standards, most notably the Service Component Architecture (SCA) and Service Data Objects (SDA) specifications.
