Pegasystems unveils major upgrade to SmartBPM Suite

Developers working on business process management now have another ally on their side with a major upgrade to Pegasystems SmartBPM Suite. The company yesterday unveiled a host of new features for SmartBPM which it calls “the most significant upgrade in two years,” while also claiming to set a new standard of usability for analysts, developers and end users.

PegaRULES Process Commander now features an AJAX enhancement that provides immediate feedback to the end user at the hover of a mouse; it’s designed to increase interactivity, speed and usability of Web apps, the company says. In addition, enterprise developers can create apps in their home language, and deploy them globally using a new language localization capability.

Many enhancements like easier-to-find tools, step-by-step Flash tutorials, and an expanded Help system provide new support for developers. The company also has expanded the technical content on the Pega Developer Network Web site and added new functionality. Developers can also test app components during development and perform key tasks, such as incorporating user-defined policy changes and autonomic diagnostics to help the system repair itself.

"The more BPM Suites can do to make it easier for business users and analysts to get and stay involved in BPM, the better,” says Janelle Hill, research VP at Gartner. “We see BPM as an area where business and IT can truly collaborate,”.
