Sun delivers Java CAPS Suite to streamline SOA deployment

Sun Microsystems announced a new suite of infrastructure software, within the Sun Java Enterprise System, designed to help enterprises address the most challenging business integration and Web 2.0 development projects. Java Composite Application Platform Suite (Java CAPS) delivers a range of business solutions to streamline IT services across an organization, leveraging legacy assets without the need for extensive coding, according to Sun.

Following its August 2005 acquisition of SeeBeyond, Sun combined SeeBeyond's business integration software with the Java Enterprise System to create a secure and scalable service-oriented architecture platform, Sun says. Sun's now giving customers the complete toolset and run-time environment to transform and automate core business processes, such as purchasing, quote to order, inventory re-stocking, pricing approvals, travel authorization and numerous others. Sun is also introducing professional services offerings to help drive IT cost-savings and productivity and to help users realize the full potential of SOA.

Java CAPS is comprised of four suites, including the new Java B2B Suite and Java ESB Suite, as well as the existing Java Application Platform Suite and Java Web Infrastructure Suite. Each suite is available individually for a subscription price of $50 per employee per year. When purchased together, Java CAPS is discounted to $100 for all four suites. The entire Java Enterprise System is available until June 30 for a promotional price of $150 per employee per year. After July 1, the price will be $200 per subscription.
