OASIS Working on SOA Blueprints

An OASIS committee has announced a project to create technical blueprints for
businesses vying for a reliable way to develop applications for a service-oriented
architecture.
The new SOA Adoption Blueprints Technical Committee will develop, maintain
and update a set of business profiles or adoption blueprints, illustrating the
practical deployment of services using SOA. Each adoption blueprint will include
a business problem statement, a set of business requirements and a set of functions
to be fulfilled, all neutral to a vendor and specification. The committee will
start with Generico, a blueprint created by The Middleware Co., the project’s
host. Generico will be the basic adoption blueprint, and the committee expects
other blueprints will address other business needs.
The committee will accept data, including sets of standards, specifications,
source code or other methods, to create a blueprint’s functions and requirements.
Other blueprints will be based on end-user needs, such as policy management
and business to business.
According to the site (OASIS-Open),
the first committee meeting is set for Thursday, Sept. 1, with monthly meetings
to follow.
Committee members include Adobe Systems, Booz Allen Hamilton, Capgemini, DataPower,
Infravio, MW2 Consulting, Raining Data and Satyam.
