Trend Micro Offers Enterprises Another Weapon Against Malware

Trend Micro is delivering an upgraded version of its InterScan Web Security Suite that the company says will stave off viruses and other Internet threats that continually target enterprises.

InterScan Web Security Suite 2.5 features gateway security designed to prevent spyware, grayware, viruses, phishing attacks and other malware entering corporate networks through their Internet gateways. The company says the software protects corporate networks throughout the lifecycle of a virus-based attack, providing IT security admins a consolidated approach to dealing with this threat.

The new version blocks spyware from entering the network at the gateway, and will also eradicate spyware on clients, which is accomplished automatically. An optional feature repairs system files, directories and registries.

InterScan Web Security 2.5 also blocks outbound phone home communications at the gateway, protecting users from phishing attacks and preventing spyware programs from attempting to collect information from an infected system and sending it back to attackers.

An optional module detects malicious ActiveX and Java applets secreted in Web pages. It protects against unwanted self-installing spyware and zero day mobile code not yet referenced in the spyware scanner databases. An optional URL module filters inappropriate Web content through a database that classifies requests not already in the database as users browse.

InterScan Web Security Suite 2.5 is now available in the U.S., Europe and Asia-Pacific in an English language interface; it’s available for Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003.

Pricing is based on 25 users or more; pricing for an organization of 1,001 users, for example, would cost $7.20 per user.
