Intellitactics Unveils Tool to Help Ease Compliance Costs

Companies that comply with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, FISMA and Basel II must have effective log monitoring to meet auditing requirements. The volume of data generated to comply with regulations is quickly overwhelming some companies. External firewalls and network intrusion devices may generate more than 100 million events per day, and may require one full-time employee to perform log reviews. Manually sifting through logs and compiling reports is nearly impossible because the data is so vast, it distracts IT from business critical projects and stalls productivity.

Intellitactics has introduced Intellitactics Security Reporter, an application that automates audit reporting and log aggregation, which the company claims solves the problems associated with compliance.

Security Reporter is the first of the modular application planned for the Intellitactics Security Manager suite.

Security Reporter enables IT security teams to validate internal controls, which are implemented to enforce policy and reduce risk, and verify they are functioning as intended. The module’s reports include summaries of critical data sources, and IT staffers can drill down from summary reporting to raw event logs for additional details. Reports are available on-demand or can be scheduled, automatically e-mailed to relevant administrators, managers and auditors, the company says.

Other features include:

• More than 100 summary and detail reports in graphical and tabular formats, including CSV, Excel and PDF.
  
• Pre-packaged reports and optimized report tables detail security events, asset and vulnerability information, device status, and Security Manager activity and audit information.
  
• Log viewing allows users to browse and filter raw information when an investigation is required.

Pricing for Security Reporter, which runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, begins at $75,000 with an annual maintenance of 15 percent of the cost.
