Parasoft debuts AEP solution for Java

Software testing guru Adam Kolawa has been on a three-year mission to create a tool that prevents errors in software during development, and he used the JavaOne stage last week to unveil the result. Kolawa's firm, Monrovia, Calif.-based Parasoft, brought out what it calls Automated Error Prevention (AEP) software for Java applications and disclosed plans for multi-language versions to follow quickly.

"We wanted to provide a comprehensive solution for improving software quality," Kolawa told e-ADT during the conference. "Today's economic climate does not allow companies to invest in all types of tools only to have them end up as 'shelfware' -- they need results from the products they buy."

Kolawa contended that the new toolset can "not only provide technically advanced tools to automated practices, but our services team guides development organizations through implementation and teaches them how to effectively prevent software errors within their current development process."

Designed to support Kolawa's AEP methodology, the Parasoft Java Solution integrates error prevention and monitoring techniques into the full life cycle of a Java development project. It combines source control and nightly build systems with preventative techniques, such as coding standards, static analysis, unit testing and regression testing, to find and prevent development errors.
