In Brief: UML 2.0, Borland in Geneva, Python conference and more

* At the OMG's recent meeting in Orlando, Fla., the Analysis and Design Task Force voted to recommend adoption of the Unified Modeling Language (UML) 2.0 Infrastructure, Object Constraint Language and Diagram Interchange Protocol.

* Software asset management tool maker LogicLibrary reached an agreement with Microsoft Corp. enabling Visual Studio .NET developers and software architects to search a central library of software development assets to identify good matches for business and technical requirements for Microsoft .NET Framework-based application development. The Logidex .NET Library will integrate with the Visual Studio .NET integrated development environment (IDE). Users will connect to a Logidex .NET Library hosted on MSDN.

* Attention is once again focusing on Borland Software Corp.'s app server offerings. Borland recently said that Switzerland's State of Geneva Information Technologies Center had chosen Borland JBuilder to create new information systems. After evaluations, the technology center also selected Borland Enterprise Server as the J2EE application server. * As part of the activities leading up to the recent U.K. Python 2003 Conference, several online interviews with important Python-language people were conducted. Interviews with luminaries such as Guido van Rossum and Eric Raymond are now online at http://www.python-uk.org/.

* Omnicore Software has announced the immediate availability of its Java IDE CodeGuide 6.0 for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. New features in CodeGuide 6 include on-the-fly inspections of source code, on-the-fly detection of unused code, automatic error resolutions, improved refactorings and a new GUI.
