MySQL Offers Enterprise Partner Program

Open-source database developer MySQL AB has initiated a new partnership program to better collaborate with providers of IT services and computer hardware vendors.

The MySQL Enterprise Connection Alliance (MECA) offers a free entry-level membership called "MySQL Enterprise Ready Partner," as well as paid version for $2,995 called the "MySQL Enterprise Gold Partner" membership.

Gold partners get a 20 percent discount on MySQL training, as well as priority placement in the MySQL Solutions Directory. They also get 24x7 phone support.

Both memberships provide partners with one developer license for MySQL Enterprise database server. Additional details on the two membership types and the MECA program are described here (PDF document).

MECA currently has two customer referral programs to compensate partners. The "MySQL Affiliate Program" provides commissions for driving customer traffic to MySQL's online store. The "MySQL Lead Referral Program" pays for leads that bring revenue to MySQL via licensing and support agreements.

Another part of the MECA program is the "MySQL Reseller Module," which allows partners to market and sell MySQL Enterprise subscriptions, MySQL Cluster, MySQL Professional Services, and/or MySQL Training.

Partners need to recertify under the MECA program when a major version of MySQL Enterprise is released or when applications are released for a new platform. Certification involves testing the application that partners wish to run on MySQL Enterprise. The application needs to run without errors using MySQL's testing software.

MECA is targeted toward resellers, software and hardware vendors, and IT service providers worldwide. Membership information is available at http://solutions.mysql.com/partners/.
