Tibco Releases Open-Source AJAX Test Kit

Tibco Software Inc. has provided its test tool suite as an open-source offering to developers of asynchronous Web technologies for the enterprise, especially in SOA (service-oriented architecture) environments.

Tibco provides software and consultancy services to businesses, helping to develop SOA and business process management solutions.

With the release of its General Interface Test Automation Kit (GITAK) test suite, the company claims to have delivered the first open-source test product that helps debug JavaScript, AJAX and rich Internet applications.

GITAK includes libraries, visual tools and automated quality assurance testing capabilities. The solution generates automated test case and run scenarios to validate applications. The user builds a library of test cases to automate the testing of AJAX scripts.

GITAK tests the entire application, not just its components, and thereby reduces errors that might be discovered at runtime, according to Kevin Hakman, Tibco's director of general interface product marketing.

GITAK expands on the open-source Selenium Core test tool, which enables the testing of Web applications in a browser.

The open-source GITAK suite is currently available for download at
