Java Analysis and Visualization Tools Announced

JProbe 7.0 helps diagnose and resolve performance and availability problems. It's especially useful as Java code becomes increasingly more complex, according to Tyler Jewell, Quest Software's senior director of product management, Application Management group.

JProbe 7.0 includes new support for Sun Java SE 6 and Java Virtual Machine. It features stronger memory analysis, performance analysis workflows and a unified tools console.

The MathWorks added support for Java and .NET application development in its MATLAB product. MATLAB is a high-level language and environment that supports computationally intensive tasks.

New Java and .NET builder products from The MathWorks allow engineers and scientists to use visualization tools in MATLAB to develop their algorithms. These algorithms can then be distributed to users who don't have the MATLAB application.

"MATLAB Builders for .NET and Java save considerable effort by repackaging algorithms developed in MATLAB into deployable components that can be used royalty-free in desktop and Web applications," explained Rachel Schiff, The MathWorks' technical marketing manager.

Sun Microsystems, in conjunction with the NetBeans Community, issued an early release of the NetBeans Ruby pack. The release provides open-source NetBeans support for the Ruby Programming Language.

Features of the release include code completion for modules, classes, methods and escape codes within literal strings and regular expressions, according to an announcement issued by Sun.

The pack also includes editing support for Ruby and JRuby, Sun's Java-version of Ruby.

According to the NetBeans site, the pack is available in NetBeans 6's Milestone 7 release. A pack for Ruby on Rails will be coming later this year, according to Sun.
