Oracle's Depot Links to Code Library for Fast Java Apps

Oracle this week released a free dev tool for its Fusion middleware. The new productivity tool called Oracle Developer Depot provides access to a library of reusable and sample code for rapid development of Java app prototypes.

Developer Depot, which runs on Oracle's Application Server 10g, uses RSS to communicate with a source code repository on the Oracle Technology Network. The idea is to use pre-existing code or applications as the starting point for Java and SOA applications. The new tool also supports AJAX, XML, and the Spring 2.0 Framework.

"Oracle Developer Depot makes it simple and fast to locate cool and useful Java applications, and download and install them with one easy step, complete with source code," said Steven G. Harris, the vice president for Oracle's Java Platform Group, in a statement.

Announced in San Francisco at Oracle Openworld, Oracle Developer Depot is available free for download now. Terms, conditions and restrictions apply, according to the company.
